One Dance - uncovering human magnificence through conversation Arun Wakhlu and Alan Stewart This article is about human magnificence: What it is and how to assist in bringing it forth. Our aim is to bring to your attention a way of recognizing and supporting the emergence of the magnificence inherent in our humanity. We have produced this article particularly for those who appreciate that this is at the core of their professional practice.
Alan was a keynote speaker at the 1st World Conference for Systemic Management, in Vienna in May 2001. This seminal paper has had a wide influence. Creating a Culture of Conversing: Applying cybernetic notions to business praxis Alan also presented this paper at the 2001 annual conference of the American Society of Cybernetics in Vancouver. The "Marion Story" also known as "In Conversing Cafés, Citizens Come Out on Top Down Under" This ground breaking approach to community consultation was developed and implemented by Alan and colleagues. This story has become very famous for its demonstration of a direct connection between purpose and process and outcome. Constructivism and Collaborative Enterprises Alan was co-editor of Seized by Agreement, Swamped by Understanding, a collection of papers to celebrate Humberto Maturana's 1994 Australian visit. The above are his papers in this compilation. Conversation as the Energiser of New Ways of Being and New Ways of Doing In his role with the late Robert Theobald's work in Australia, Alan also wrote, in Reworking Tomorrow - The Slim Book (1998) and which was also originally on the Reworking Tomorrow site.
