Recent successful facilitations

Alan co-facilitated a workshop for senior managers from throughout China of InterContinental Hotels Group, in Shanghai in July 2007. This featured both Open Space and World Café components.

The question addressed in the two day gathering:

How do we ensure that we continue to provide excellent service to our existing clients while meeting our targets for achieving new business?

All present took to these new group processes very quickly and naturally, there being no stopping the flow of respectful interaction.

The immediate outcome of the event was a clear set of strategies by which to achieve defined goals by their target date.

In April 2008 in Kuala Lumpur he facilitated a series of World Café sessions (called Collaboration Cafes) for Adidas, the international sports goods company which had recently undergone a major amalgamation with Reebok.

Senior managers from all around the Asia Pacific region addressed questions, among which were:

Do you see that cross brand collaboration is important to the future of the company?

What would success in achieving greater collaboration look and feel like?

How do you think that those who make the effort to achieve greater collaboration may be recognized and rewarded?

This was very productive in regard to talking in depth with colleagues from across the region. Said one person very poignantly: ‘In all my 25 years in retail I have never experienced a business meeting like the one we had today.’
